Robotics: Come Design, Build and Test Robots!

In this class students design, build, and test robots using the Legos NXT system. Looking at real world problems like how to eliminate space debris, capture asteroids, or build a machine that can measure the speed and density of a raindrop. Students will develop their mechanical, visual/spatial, math and critical thinking skills as they propose possible solutions. Anticipate visits to UW Resources like the Paul Allen rare book collection where you can peruse books printed in the 1690s and read articles from "Scientific American" from the 1870s.

Students will share technology resources and work cooperatively. No experience necessary.

Sections are not sequential. Two sections are offered in an effort to accommodate more students.

Section A

Meets: M-F, 1-4 p.m., June 22-July 2
(no class on July 3)
Location: UW Seattle campus
Length: Two weeks
Cost: $430 + $50 laptop fee. If student provides his/her own laptop, laptop fee is waived.

Meets: M-F, 1-4 p.m., July 6-17
Location: UW Seattle campus
Length: Two weeks
