Short Shorts: Summer Writing & Film

Instructor: Cara Stoddard

This course is for students who have a love for writing fiction, creative nonfiction(personal narrative), and poetry. Students will hone their craft by experimenting with form constraints, point of view, word play, and figurative language. After compiling a portfolio of short stories, essays, or poems (or some of each), students will select their favorite piece to convert into a short film. Students will storyboard, capture footage that pairs visually with the words of their piece, and then edit and publish their work to Vimeo.

Students should come to class with a laptop or device that supports word processing and video recording and can access the internet.

This class is not for students who need remedial writing. Students should have a high level of English language proficiency.
